Natalie Rae’s Spring Summer ‘12 collection launches this month at Silkfred, just in time for the Summer months ahead! We asked Natalie a few questions to find out little bit more about the person behind the bold and bright designs.

Who is your icon? I don’t really have an icon, at least not at the moment. I guess the closet thing to an icon I have are animals. I am always inspired by animals and their natural grace and beauty.

What inspires you day to day? Just about everything, but lately I have been drawn to unique fabrics and patterns. Found myself following a women through the tube station because the fabric on her coat was so cool, I was trying to figure out what it was, felt a bit like a crazy person but at least she didn’t seem to notice.

If you could collaborate with one designer who would it be and why? Proenza Schouler. I love their style, its so modern feminine but also hipster in a not so obvious way and I love their use of fabric and textures.

Describe yourself in four words… Shy, excited, low key and fun.

What does ‘good style’ mean to you? Well made and well thought out pieces and it all just looks effortless.
